The Basics

I am a gay male who lives in Reading and works in the really exciting town of Wokingham! I am also partially deaf and although I was brought up to speak, I can also sign. I manage a mental health crisis and home treatment team which can get a bit interesting at times! I am mad on cars especially classic ones and I currently drive a Fiat Stilo in bright yellow! Tuesday nights usually find me in the local gay pub with a group of mates chatting away. Please contact me if you what to know any more.


My Outlook on Life
A friend of mine Woodi discribes his philosophy in the words, “One Life Only”. I must admit my outlook on life is based on my christian faith, which is founded on the person of Jesus Christ rather than the beliefs and practices of the established church, which, in my (and many of my gay friends) experience, are overwhelmingly homophobic. This homophobia has had a profoundly negative impact on my life and I have only in the last few years begun to feel free enough to explore my sexuality as a gift from God.

What I do
I qualified as a probation officer in 1995 and worked for Hampshire Probation Service for 3 years. Since then I worked for Hampshire County Council as a social worker, working in a community drug team for 1½ years before undertaking my Approved Social Worker training. After a spell working in a crisis team in Basingstoke, I moved to my current post since September 2002. I am also an occassional trainer on issues such as: substance misuse, mental health and sexuality. I am keen to expand this area of my work, so if you are interested in me providing training for your organisation please get in touch.
