I don’t know how to start writing about this! Well I could start by saying that I don’t believe him and that he is seriously deluding himself. He was having sex regularly with a man for several years but now says he was only “acting out” and that it wasn’t a “constant thing”. There have been many claims by the ex-gay movement that they can change someone from being homosexual to heterosexual but these have never stood up to serious scrutiny, never mind the process taking only three weeks.

What is really worrying about this delusion is the underlying message that being gay is bad and that being straight is good. The church state that the gospel of Christ is “good news”. What is so good about saying to millions of gay people in the world that the very essence of their being is bad and that they need to become straight in order to become acceptable? After years of being in churches where the covert and often overt message is only straight people are welcome, it is no wonder that I find faith dying within me.
